WELCOME TO SUMMER IN PARRSBORO

The long awaited days of summer have arrived and nowhere are they more pleasant and beautiful than here in Parrsboro.  There are a variety of activities for visitors and residents alike including Classics-by-the-Bay Music Festival June 25-27; live theatre at the Ship's Company Theatre from June 30 through September 26 featuring three main stage plays, a concert series and main stage special event; beach tours from the Fundy Geological Museum; and a walk through the history of Parrsborough Shore at the Ottawa House By-the-Sea Museum.  Parrsboro's Old Home Week July 14-17, Fundy Shore Auto Club Outdoor Show July 31-August 1 and Nova Scotia's Gem and Mineral Show August 20-22 are also popular events.  I would especially like to meet you personally at "Tea with the Mayor" held weekly in July and August.  Please check out the events calendar on our website for schedule.  Of course, you are also welcome to stroll down our flower-lined Main Street with its shops, restaurants and other attractions.  For the more sports minded there is our picturesque nine hole golf course and many hiking and kayaking opportunities.

Parrsboro is also a convenient base for short trips around the area such as the UNESCO Heritage Site at the Joggins Fossil Cliffs and Anne Murray Centre in Springhill.  Following a winding highway that many compare to the Cabot Trail for its scenic landscapes and seascapes you can visit the lighthouse at Cape D'or and Cape Chignecto Provincial Park in Advocate.

May I take this opportunity to invite you back to one of the most beautiful areas in Nova Scotia and suggest that you may want to read more about our town within the pages of our website.

I hope to see you soon.

Mayor Lois Smith
